Welcome to the 8th Annual Durango Heritage Celebration!

2015-home-imageThis event commemorates our town's colorful and diverse history, this year focusing primarily on the period from the town's incorporation in 1881 through the roaring 20’s. You'll find that a large number of event goers will be dressed in authentic period attire throughout the celebration. We encourage everyone to join in the fun by donning your Victorian, Edwardian, Roaring 20’s or Old West finery for any of our activities, although costuming is generally optional with exceptions noted on activities pages. We greatly appreciate our guests following our historic mission in their attire at the DHC; in particular, kindly refrain from the Steampunk fantasy look or modern western attire. This event is open to the public. A few of the activities require advance ticket purchase, please see each activity page for details and requirements.

Our 2014 activities were well received with many folks saying our Grand Victorian Ball is “the best they had ever attended”.   Folks riding the Heritage Train reluctantly gave up their “insurance” (gold coins) to the notorious Ike Stockton Gang during a daring “Train Robbery”!  And, our newest activity “Murder Makes a Reservation” Murder Mystery Dinner Theater brought down the house as participates revealed their answers for the “Who Done It” thriller.

Our new 2015 activities listed above, explain required reservations.  Some of them sell out quickly. Be certain to bring your camera to this event. It is THE BEST for photo opportunities!

Note:  Pricing for the Heritage Train is now corrected.  For those of you who have already purchased your tickets you will receive a refund though the train.  However, you may want to call them to discuss which car and price you want reserved. 970-247-2733

"The Durango Heritage Celebration is one of our favorite events and we know it is due to all the work put forth all year long to make it happen. Thank you Suzanne for all you have done."

"Way fun.  The whole Durango weekend was great! Everything was fabulous!  You are incredible.  Thanks for all your hard work.  I would so recommend Durango as a destination now that I’ve been there and had such a wonderful time!"
Kimary, Wheat Ridge CO

"We enjoyed the train ride so much, and we are locals. Loved the opportunity to take advantage of beautiful cars for a great value! I hope that will be on the venue next year .I heard from several couples from the front range and all over Co that said this is the best venue in the State. One couple said it exceeds the venues in Gettysburg. We moved back here after 10 years living in Gettysburg, PA so I know how rich the re-inacting venues are there."
Valerie, Bayfield CO

"I really enjoyed the Ball this year. Every event just seemed more relaxed and easy this year. I wish there had been programs at the museum, last year the ribbon and hat workshops were great, would like to see more of that."
Frances, Golden CO

"We enjoyed ourselves immensely!"
Jane, Custer SD

"All the events were so much fun. One of my favorite memories is the dance class, however the best part was meeting so many wonderful and fun loving people. Fun, elegant, and professionally managed. It felt like we were really in the 1800's. We plan to come again."

"Thank you once again for putting on such a lovely event! It was truly a wonderful experience. All the planning and organizing truly paid off."
